This Lab kit is based on a
Voice-enabled Cisco 2811 ISR Router
with Cisco Unified
CME 8.6
(Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express) & with
CCP 2.7
(Cisco Configuration Professional)
The 2811 Router includes an
FXO card
, so that you can
make/receive Phone Calls
to/from the
outside world!
A
PVDM2 Module
is also included (needed to enable the FXO card)

However one or both Phones can be upgraded to 7945 or 9971 (see the Upgrades Section).

Lab Setup
:
All IP Phones are connected to the CME Router through the Ethernet Network,
which requires a LAN Switch.
This Lab includes a 3560-PS Switch with PoE
(Power over Ethernet).
One port of the Switch has to be connected to the Router's Ethernet interface and the other ports can be used for the IP Phones.
Once you make the physical connection (described in the User's Guide), you'll be ready to start making phone calls!
No other Hardware is required to make calls between the Phones connected to the LAN!
To make/receive calls
outside the LAN
, you'll need to use the
FXO Card
that is
included with this Router.
A
PVDM Module
(installed internally) is also included
(needed to enable the FXO card)
NOTE:
An active Phone Line is needed
to make/receive External Phone Calls.
A regular Phone Cable, with
RJ-11
connectors at both ends, is needed to
connect the FXO card to the External Phone Line.
The 2811
supports up to 35 IP Phones
and up to 144 Virtual Ports!
