Description
You are buying one of the nicer silver plated antique cornets on ebay for this model #. Most of the others on here have lots of black spots and oxidation and worn off silver plating etc. My Cornet was played in high school back in the 80's a handful of times as I had a trumpet also. This one is in very nice used shape. I believe it is from 1906 or so. You can look up the serial # online. The silver has been polished & cleaned. There is literally no oxidation and no silver missing rub off spots on the whole Cornet that usually occurs from someones perspiration and finger wear. Rare shape for an item dated from the early 1900's. There is a ding/dent on the very back as seen in the pic. But the rest of the instrument, I would give this for its age, a B+ or better. You judge by pics. I have seen these in museums in horrible condition and I probably should not be selling it on ebay, but I have no more use for it as I am in my 50's now and no longer play it
The case, for its age is in good shape. The wooden/leather handle has wear/cracks to be expected like all the others on here for its age. All the lock snaps work and the cornet plays and all the slides and valves move. I did grease the slides some, but the valves will need valve oil as I don't have any. It comes with all you see in the box.
Included is:
Very nice shape C.G. Conn silver plated Cornet model
#96669.
Was told the model is Conn
Connqueror
Extra slide, 2 mouth pieces, music holder, mute, 2 mouth piece extenders, and case, It still has that old musty smell from the 1900's when you open the case up. A rare find in this shape. One mouthpiece has some wear at the bottom from sliding it in and out of the cornet.
Any questions ask but that's all I know about it. I believe these come with a gold plated brass bell, hence the different color from the rest of the silver body. Please supersize the pics so you will see how clean and shiny this thing is! Thanks!
