  • Condition: Really nice playing Boosey & Hawkes Imperial (Besson) E flat silver cornet. Silver finish highly polished and nearly intact throughout. Valves casings show some normal wear but valves are smooth and horn plays exceptionally well with a beautiful sweet, or brilliant tone. Low pitch. All dents removed . Still has some surface scratches and dings remaining.

    Description

    This a really nice professional silver 'Imperial' model E flat cornet from 1977.  Actually it is one of my favorite horns for brass ensemble and solo work.  The 'Imperial' model is nearly identical to the Besson 'New Standard' model and produced in the same factory in London.
    The horn was , refurbished, cleaned and polished.  Valves are aligned and has good or new felts and corks.  All major dents are removed with some light scratches and dings remaining.
    Note
    that this horn plays better with a smaller shank mouthpiece (not included) such as a vintage V-cup or warburton BC-series shank with cup of your choice.  Tone varies widely with mouthpiece cup design.  Can be bright, brilliant, or sweet sounding depending on the mouthpiece.  I prefer  the deeper V- or Bowl-shaped cups for  best results.
    The horn does not come with a case or mouthpiece.
