Description
Waterman 3v fountain pen, 1930s, in green and red marble celluloid with chrome trim. This is the short version of the 32 or the 3, similar in proportions to the older hard rubber 52v. No. 2 nib, Waterman 'Tip-Fil' feed. This is a well used pen, but while its looks are humble, it performs beautifully. The Waterman No. 2 nib is extremely good. With no pressure it's very fine, and when pressure is added it gets up to about 1.9mm -- quite dramatic line variation. It takes a small to moderate amount of pressure to get the tines to spread, and it's possible to write with no shading if you concentrate. It's quite capable of pointed-pen calligraphy styles like copperplate or spencerian. See the writing samples.
Lever filler, restored with a new sac installed. Length about 4 1/4 inches.
The writing samples were made with the pen itself, dipped in Waterman Intense Black ink, on a Rhodia pad.
